Jessie James Blankenship

JESSIE JAMES BLANKENSHIP, 74, of Dunlow, W.Va., passed away Monday, May 28, 2018 at Pikeville Medical Center.  He was born April 4, 1944 in Pike County, Kentucky, a son of the late Lloyd and Hattie Blankenship.  His wife, Brenda Sue Blankenship also preceded him in death along with three brothers, Lloyd Blankenship, Jr., Bobby Blankenship, and Lewis Blankenship; one sister, Betty Ann Blankenship; three sons, Bobby Blankenship, Jessie Blankenship, Jr., and Martin Wolford; and one grandson, Travis Norman.

            He leaves behind two daughters, Lovada “Love” (Catfish) Day and Hennrietta Blankenship Grimmett of Dunlow; 13 grandchildren, Sadie (Steven) Grimmett of Radnor, W.Va., James D. Owens of Dunlow, Jessie Grimmett of Genoa, Cody (Tina) Grimmett also of Genoa, Dakota (Tyesha) Grimmett of East Lynn, W.Va., LaDawnna (Justin) Owens of Dunlow, Brian (Ashley) Norman of Wayne, W.Va., Timothy Wolford, Amanda Wolford of Phelps, Ky., Nicole Lambert, Ella Lambert, Elva Lambert, all of Dunlow, Rachel Adams of Dunlow, and Charles Day III;  four great grandchildren, Madison Carroll, Mercedes Norman, Nevaeh Norman, Jayden Norman; special girls, Raylin Boyd and Kylee Boyd; and one great grandson, Tucker Grimmett, on the way.

            Also surviving are three sisters, Vivian Kay Blankenship of Phelps, Ky., Nervie Whitt of Ohio, and Merlin Blankenship of Virginia; and a host of friends and family.

            Funeral services will be conducted at noon on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home with Pastor James Carter officiating.  Burial will follow at the Blankenship-Day Cemetery.  Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
