LOIS JEAN “TOOTS” ADKINS, 74, of Wayne, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 1, 2018. She was born September 17, 1944 at Wayne, a daughter of the late Harlan and Clara Davis Adkins. Her husband Joe Thomas Adkins also preceded her in death along with brothers Tommy Adkins, Gerald “Sluefoot” Adkins, Glenn Adkins, Oscar Adkins, Richard “Dickie” Adkins, and infant Jimmy Adkins; sisters, Faye Nance and Jane Dillon; and granddaughter Karri Adkins. Toots was a lifelong homemaker and a member of Booton Millers Fork United Baptist Church.
She leaves behind her husband Herbert Adkins; her children, Tammy (Ray) Pelfrey, Tim (Tammy) Adkins, Paul Adkins, Leeroy Adkins, all of Wayne, and Leon Adkins of Toledo, Oh.; grandchildren Sam Runyon, Shara Talbert, Shelton Adkins, Makayla Fetty, Anthony Adkins, and Jaden Adkins; three great grandchildren, Emma, Forrest, and Thomas.
Also surviving are two brothers, Wendall Adkins and David Adkins; special friend Lula Porter; dear friends and neighbors from Holy Cross Monastery; and a host of nieces, nephews cousins, and friends too numerous to mention.
The family would like to thank all who called, visited, and sent food, for your love and support during her illness.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, November 5, 2018 at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home with Pastor A.J. Perry and Brother Johnny Gilkerson officiating. Burial will follow in the Adkins Family Cemetery, Millers Fork. Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Rev. 14:13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.
