STELLA SPENCE PELFREY, 75, of Lavalette, W.Va., died peacefully at home Tuesday morning, February 12, 2019 surrounded by her family. She was born August 13, 1943 in Huntington, W.Va., a daughter of the late Lucian and Nellie Harmon Spence. Her husband, Richard Pelfrey also preceded her in death along with one sister Katherine “Kitty” Nolen and one brother, Thomas “Tommy” Spence.
Stella retired from Corbin’s LTD and was a wonderful homemaker. She was a member of Laurel Freewill Baptist Church.
She leaves behind four daughters, Celeste Estes and her husband John of Hurricane, W.Va., Stephanie Woolfolk and her husband Denny of Huntington, Deborah Wilson of Milton, W.Va., and Jeanette Porter and her husband Randy of Lavalette; grandchildren, Katie Wilson, Jacob Wilson, Tyler Porter, Robyn Porter, Gabriel Estes, and Isabella Estes; and Cassie and Anna Sharp, whom she thought of as her own.
Also surviving is one brother, James Bert Spence of Huntington; and a host of friends.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Huntington for their loving care and support. Donations are suggested to Hospice of Huntington.
Per her request there will be no services and graveside rites will be private. Johnson Tiller Funeral Home is honored to serve the Pelfrey family.
