AGNES RUTH LYCANS, 87, of Lavalette, W.Va., reunited with her husband in the presence of the Lord on Sunday, January 29, 2017.  She was born July 15, 1929 at Stiltner, the daughter of the late Lafe and Jettie Booton Maynard.  Her husband of 64 years, James Garland Lycans, also preceded her in death, along with three brothers, Billy Charles Maynard, Hobert Maynard, and Paul B. Maynard.  Agnes was strong in her faith and worshiped with many congregations.  She was also an avid quilter who enjoyed playing Bingo and cards with her family and friends.

Left to cherish her memory are three daughters, Terri Lynn Copley (Ron) of Carrabelle, Fla., Shelley Ruth Maynard of Lavalette, and Jetta Maureen Baumgardner of York, S.C.; six sons, James Garland Lycans Jr. (Connie) of Carthage, N.C., Richard Anthony Lycans of Chesapeake, Oh., Roger Franklin Lycans of Huntington, W.Va., Dana Herald Lycans (Lisa Ann) of Lexington, N.C., Billy Michael Lycans (Annette) of Milton, W.Va., and Robert Matthew Lycans also of Lavalette; 19  grandchildren, Melissa, Jason, Justin, Jaime, Adam Tyler, Kristin, Amber, Jared, Amanda, Chase, Ayrton, Scottie, Zach Ali, Joshua, Jessie, Andrea, and Lafe; and 22 great grandchildren.

Also surviving are nieces and nephew, Linda, Ardis, and Charlie, whom she loved as her own; and special friend Lola Morris of Florida.  The family would like to extend a special thank you to the St. Mary's Neuroscience staff.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home with Pastors Fred Ferguson and Doug Booton officiating.  Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.  Friends may call after 12 noon on Thursday at the funeral home.  In addition to floral tributes, donations may be made to Hospice of Huntington in her name.
