CHALLIS BROWN BAKER, 92. of East Lynn, West Virginia passed away Thursday, July 30, 2026 at the Emogene Dolan Jones Hospice House. He was born January 18, 1934 in East Lynn, a son of the late Leslie and Thyrsa Shuff Baker. Also preceding him in death were two brothers Garnet G. Baker and Hollis Baker; one sister Hollena Baker Adkins; wives Barbara Ann Dial Baker, Betty K. Spencer Baker, Shirley Hunter Watts Baker; one daughter Sharon Kay Baker Gillespie; grandson James D. Gillespie, Jr.; one granddaughter Melissa Ann Davis Cate; one stepdaughter Patricia Watts; and one stepson Gregory Watts. Challis was a Korean War veteran in the US Navy and a retired machine operator from AC Delco in Dayton Ohio.

He is survived by one brother Cebern Baker; one sister Palmaneda Baker Smith; his daughter Debra Ann Baker Davis; stepsons Wade Watts and Abe Watts; grandchildren Douglas A. Davis; Jennifer K. Davis Chappa; Sharon K. Gillespie Edminsten; stepgrandchildren Amber Watts, Kimberly Watts, Allison Watts, Trevor Watts, Tyler Watts, and Billie Joe Watts Jr.; several great and great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held privately at a later date.
