Loving husband, father, and grandfather, CHARLES WILLARD EKERS, SR., 77, of Prichard, W.Va. went to be with the Lord peacefully on Thursday, January 14, 2016 with his family by his side.  He was born June 13, 1938 in Kenova, W.Va. a son of the late Chester and Ella Ekers.  Also preceding him in death were five brothers, Willie Joe, William Chester, Willis Vinson, Wandell Kenneth, and John Wesley; one sister, Irene; one grandson, Stanley Wayne Ekers, II; and one son-in-law, Timothy Dean Stewart.

Charles proudly served in the United States Army and was retired from Operating Engineers Union Local 132 of Charleston.  He was also a member of Buena Vista Lodge #60 A.F. & A.M., White's Creek.

He leaves behind his wife of 53 years, Carolyn Jude Ekers; three daughters, Rhonda Robertson (Chuck) of Ft. Gay, W.Va., Wilma Stewart (Kenny Ward) of Inez, Ky., and Lisa Ekers of Prichard; two sons, Charles Ekers, Jr. (Amy) of Lavalette, W.Va., and Stanley Wayne Ekers (Angie) of Prichard; 14 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren whom he deeply loved.

Also surviving is two sisters, Wilma Underwood of Louisville, Ky., and Wanda Dickey of Indiana; two brothers, Sherrill Ekers of Atlanta, Ga., and Walters Ekers (Joyce) of Wayne; sisters-in-law, June and Bonnie Ekers; and nieces, nephews, friends, and family too numerous to mention.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 17, 2016 at the Ekers Family Cemetery, Prichard, with Pastor Dewey Bias officiating.  Johnson Tiller Funeral Home is honored to serve the Ekers family.
