Deborah Ann
Darby
Jun 14, 1958 — Feb 3, 2026
DEBORAH ANN DARBY, 67, of Wayne, W.Va., passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Debbie, as she preferred to be called, was born Saturday, June 14, 1958, in Huntington, W.Va., a daughter of the late Robert Hogsett and Lorene Rowe Hogsett. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her grandparents, James and Pearl (Toney) Hogsett and Ray and Norma (Adams) Rowe.
Debbie spent most of her working career in retail. She also worked for the Wayne County News as a mail carrier before her retirement. She was known for her cooking and crocheting. She loved to bake tasty sweets and homemade biscuits that were responsible for many extra pounds. She could take little and make much from it. Known for her craftiness, her handmade and crocheted goods will be with us for many years to come.
Debbie was saved on October 28, 2025, and was baptized a few days later by her son and grandson at Gethsemane United Baptist Church. In later weeks she was bothered by not being able to attend church. But we saw the change the Lord made in her and know by the solid testimony of faith that we witnessed that she is resting from her labors.
She leaves behind her husband of nearly 22 years, Kevin Darby of Wayne; one son Jason (Shawna) Hogsett of Wayne; stepdaughter Jessica (Zach) Holley of St. Albans, W.Va.; grandchildren Bobby Hogsett of Branchland, W.Va., and Charlotte Holley of St. Albans; and one brother Rodney Hogsett of Wayne.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home with Elder Jason Hogsett and Elder Lenny Romans officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery Annex. Visitation will begin at noon.
