GEORGE LEER CLAY, 73, of Wayne, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at the Emogene Dolan Jones Hospice House in Huntington, W.Va. He was born September 26, 1952, on Tiger Fork in East Lynn, West Virginia, a son of the late Hubert and Norma Lee Thompson Clay. George was a member of Salem United Baptist Church and retired from the Huntington Sanitary Board with 36 years of service. He enjoyed gardening, bee keeping, hunting, attending church, socializing with friends and spending time with the love of his life and best friend - his wife, Terene Ann Stroud Clay.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Hubert Leo Clay.
He is also survived by three sons, Tony (Cala) Clay, Andy Pinson, and Chad (Alyssa) Pinson; three grandchildren, Linzie, Graysen and Preslie Pinson; one sister, Linda (Robert) Tomblin; one brother, Norman "Joe" (Brenda) Clay; fathers and mothers in-law, Alvie (Donna) Gillam and Barbara (Cabell) Lycans as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends too numerous to mention.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Sunday, November 23, 2025, at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home in Wayne, W.Va. with his son, Pastor Tony Clay and Elder Tommy Damron officiating. Burial will follow at the Clay-Fraley Cemetery, East Lynn, WV. Visitation will begin at noon.
