Hannah
Marcum
May 26, 1950 — Jun 19, 2026
HANNAH CYFERS MARCUM, of Kiahsville, W.Va., departed this life for her heavenly home on Friday, June 19, 2026, after a period of declining health. She was 76. Hannah was born May 26, 1950, to the late Dennie Cyfers and Naomi Fraley Cyfers of Kiahsville, where she spent most of her life in the same hollow she lived in as a little girl. Hannah, along with her siblings, helped her parents take care of the family and tend to the farm until she left Kiahsville to study art at Berea College. She returned home later in life to help care for her mother and raise her son Jim.
Hannah enjoyed spending her days reading and studying her Bible, listening to gospel music, and writing. She was often working on a new short story and was an avid letter-writer. She never missed a family member's birthday, graduation, anniversary, or even illness, and family could always count on Hannah helping to celebrate their event – or wish them a quick recovery- with a card and letter.
Despite how much her family will miss her, Hannah will be most missed by her son Jim. Hannah loved being Jim's mom and doted on him every chance she got. She was a very loving and caring mother to him and taught him the value of kindness.
She is survived by one son, Jim Marcum of Kiahsville; three sisters, Ettie Fay Jaynes of Kingsport, Tenn., Willodeen (Phillip) Mullikin of Richmond, Ky., and Shirley Ann Adams of Wayne, W.Va.; one brother, Dennie Allen Cyfers (Janice) of Kiahsville; two aunts, Carol Nelson and Mary Shy; very special cousin and friend, Jane Volkmann of Norfolk, Va.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at noon on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home with Brother Danny Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in the Cyfers Cemetery, Kiahsville. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m.
