HOBERT MERLIN CLAY, 82, of Wayne, W.Va., passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at home.  He was born September 28, 1943, in Sherman, Fla., a son of the late Thomas and Sylvia Clay.  Also preceding him in death was one sister, Bettye Ruth Wilson; one brother Robert Clay; and two grandchildren, Katie Clay and Jarrod Hair.

Survivors include three sons, Tommy (Dinah) Clay of Galax, Va., John (Vanessa) Clay of Oxford, Fla., and Wayne (Dustin) Clay of Celebration, Fla.; two daughters, Claire (Buster) Hair, and Jane Marie (Dwayne) Holt, both of Okeechobee, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Josh Clay, C.J. Clay, Mason Clay, Jessica Clay, Jake Hair, John Hair, Rachel Porter, and Joel Bryant; and a host of family and friends too numerous to mention.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 26, 2026, at the Watson Cemetery with Pastor George Nelson officiating.  Arrangements entrusted to Johnson Tiller Funeral Home.
