ILLENE NEWSOME, 71, of Greenup Ky., went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 4, 2024. She was born on May 31, 1953, in Williamson, W.Va., a daughter of the late Vicie Wethy and Johnny Staton. Also preceding her in death was a brother Jimmie Lee Staton; a grandson Alexander Lee Chaney; great-grandson Adam Brantly Holland; and one brother-in-law Richard Stacy.

She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years Billy Newsome; her three sons, Chris (Margaret) Newsome; George (Sharon) Newsome; and William Bill (Renee) Newsome; a daughter Lisa (Fred) Burdette; 10 loving grandchildren: Isaac Lee Newsome, William Gordon Newsome, Illene Joann Newsome, Amber Call, Robert Trace Newsome, Alexandra Brooke Newsome, Kelsey Marie Chaney, Anna Jolene Ball, Shawna Rebecca Ball, and Amanda Dent; and four great grandchildren: Jaxson Alexander Gibson, Joanna Elizabeth Scaff, Jayce Lee Charles Scaff, and Kasey Hope Lambirth.

Also surviving is one brother, Danny (Sandra) Staton, of Bellville, Mich.; two sisters, Lona (Troy) Stroud, of Dunlow, W.Va., Marie Stacy, of Crum, W.Va., and Loretta (Bill) Meadows, of Brooke Field, Ga.; along with many nieces, nephews, friends and family.

Funeral services will be conducted at noon on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home, with Brother Troy Stroud officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain View Memory Gardens, Williamson, W.Va. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m.
