IVAN JACOB JOHNSON, 78, of Lavalette, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 10, 2016.  He was born May 28, 1938 in Wayne County, West Virginia, a son of the late Ezra and Adah Johnson.  His sister, Bonnie Hall also preceded him in death along with three brothers, Eldon Johnson, Keith Johnson and Howard Johnson.  A 1955 graduate of Wayne High School and a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Ivan was proud to be a UMWA retiree from Oglebay Norton, Ceredo, W.Va.

He leaves behind his wife Devetta Collins Johnson; two daughters, Valerie (Donald) Wheeler of Lavalette, W.Va., and Kimberly (Ernest) Wagers of Huntington;  two sons, Scott (Amy) Johnson of Lavalette, and Dale (Kristen) Johnson of Hayden, Idaho; nine grandchildren, Dain, Tess, Trent, Joshua, Justin, Audrey, Camryn, Ali, and Addison; and five great grandchildren, Jace, Colt, Kimber, Kinslee, and Lincoln.

Also surviving are two sisters, Joyce (Bill) Pauley of Lavalette, and Janet (Perry) Ferguson of West Union, W.Va; one sister-in-law, Mary Johnson of Lavalette; one stepson, Mark Clay of Lavalette; one step-grandson, Mark (Tera) Clay Jr., also of Lavalette; and a host of family and friends too numerous to mention.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, December 16, 2016 at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home with Pastor Johnnie Harris officiating.  Burial will follow in the Collins Cemetery.  Friends may call after 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
