Obituary

JAMES FRANKLIN "Spook" STAFFORD, 60, of Wayne, W.Va., passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at Cabell Huntington Hospital.  He was born December 31, 1955 at East Lynn, W.Va., a son of the late Ermal "Tyrod" and Ilene Stafford.  One sister, Lois Sharp, also preceded him in death along with one brother-in-law, Jim Birkbeck.  Spook worked for the Town of Wayne for over 10 years.

Survivors include his wife, Sarah Stafford; two daughters, Joeh (William) Lester and Melissa Lester; two step-children, Toney (Jennifer) Atkins and Melissa Atkins, all of Wayne; and nine grandchildren, Kyler Atkins, Kameron Atkins, Jaci Atkins, Lakota Lester, Grace Lester, Kimber Lester, Tyler Hartinger, Devon Howard, and Evan Miller.  Also surviving is two brothers, Ermal Jr. "June" Stafford and his wife Tammy of Greenville, N.C., and Gary (Sue) Stafford of Medina, Oh.; three sisters, Rena Birkbeck of Wayne, Barbara (Roy) DeMent and Debbie (Mike) Conkright, all of Kenova; special friends David Ramey and "Rail Head", both of Wayne; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at noon on Saturday, March 26, 2016 at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in the Walker Cemetery.  Friends may call after 10 a.m. Saturday.
