JENNINGS LEE "YOGI" BLANKENSHIP, 75, of Wayne, W.Va., passed away on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at his home. He was born February 6, 1943 at Wayne, a son of the late Lee and Leta Mills Blankenship. His wife Ilene Blankenship also preceded him in death, along with one sister, Iva Leta Ellison, and one grandson James Timothy Blankenship. Yogi graduated Wayne High School in 1962 and was a trustee and member of Booton Millers Fork United Baptist Church. He was a retired welder from AC & F Industries, Huntington, and a life long farmer. An avid collector of antique engines, he was also a member of the West Virginia Steam and Gas Engine Association.
He leaves behind two sons, Dallas Dwayne (Valerie) Blankenship of Wayne, and Charles Donald Blankenship (Janice Parsons); and four grandchildren, Jeremy Alan Blankenship (Amber Jones) of Huntington, W.Va., Meletha Joan Blankenship, Laressa Jean Blankenship, and Charles Jackson Lee, all of Wayne.
Also surviving are brothers and sister, Lloyd Allen (Diane) Blankenship of Waycross, Ga., Kenneth Ashley (Joyce) Blankenship of Wayne, Thelma Gertrude "Trudy" (Wayne) Kelly also of Wayne, Lionel Blankenship of Huntington, and Carl Richard Blankenship of Ceredo; a host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and special friends Elder Brother Jimmy Lester and family of Huntington, and Jim and Pat Porter of Dalton, Oh.
The family would like to thank the Fresenius Dialysis Center, Wayne Wal-Mart Pharmacy employees, and Dr. Greg Carico and staff at HIMG.
Funeral services will be conducted at noon on Friday, September 7, 2018 at Booton Millers Fork United Baptist Church with Elder Brother A.J. Perry officiating. Burial will follow at the Price Mills Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. at the church. Donations to St. Jude's Children's Hospital in Yogi's memory are suggested. Johnson Tiller Funeral Home is honored to serve the Blankenship family.
