Jessie Lorraine
Williamson
Jul 13, 1937 — Sep 9, 2026
Crown City, Ohio
JESSIE LORRAINE (Steele) WILLIAMSON, 89, of Crown City, Ohio, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 9, 2026. Jessie was born July 13, 1937, in East Lynn, W.Va., to Youngea Ville Steele and Louise Mae (Taylor) Steele.
She is preceded in death by her dedicated and loving husband of nearly 61 years, Merl Williamson, who passed away on January 27, 2020. Merl and Jessie were married on May 30, 1959, in East Lynn, W.Va., and were the devoted parents of six children who survive: Donna (John) Schall and Sandra (David) Gillenwater, both of Crown City, Ohio; Pam Williamson of Columbus, Ohio; Gene Williamson, Ron (Monica) Williamson, and Wendy (Joe) Yates, all of Pensacola, Fla.
Jessie was the loving grandmother of 10 grandchildren, Melissa, Amanda, and Christopher Dray, Daphne Long, Amber Gillenwater, Jennifer Williamson, Stephanie Freeman, Tyler Williamson, Taylor Thurber, and Jessie Yates; six great-grandchildren, Celina Dray, Allison Long, Makayla Lambert, Terri Johnson, Chauncey Nolan, and Verona Thurber; two great-great grandchildren, Grayson Dotson, and Loriella Loraine Rose, and one great-great grandchild on the way.
In addition to her parents and husband, Jessie was preceded in death by her baby brother, William Mont Ville Steele; brother, Glenn Steele; and her sisters, Eloise Reinhart, Betty Faye Williamson, Ann Marie Parsons, Eula M. “Wendy” Borton-Duff, and Arbra Della Blevins.
Jessie is also survived by her brothers and sisters whom she cherished: James Steele, Samuel J. Steele, Carl W. Steele, Youngea V. Steele, Jr., Virgie Oshal, Charlotte Lucas, Wanda Watts Craddock, and Naomi Blankenship.
A woman of faith, Jessie's love of God was evident in everything she did—from the songs of praise she sang alongside her husband, Merl, to every home-cooked meal given with a glad heart to anyone who entered her home. Jessie's loving example lives on through her children, grandchildren, her many friends, extended family, and to all who knew her. “Her children rise up, and call her blessed.” — Proverbs 31:28
