MARVIN ROGER ADKINS, 77 of Wayne, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Midland Meadows Senior Living Facility. He is preceded in death by his parents Wetzel and Inez Adkins and Brother Carroll Adkins. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Roberta Edwards Adkins; his four children Elaine (Ron) Martino of Proctorville, Oh., Kent (Pam) Adkins of Columbus, Oh., Beth (Shawn) Cade of Wayne, and Virginia (Brandon) Bunn of Hurricane, W.Va.; two grandsons Ethan and Cameron Cade of Wayne; his brother Richard (Gladys) Adkins of Lavalette, W.Va.; one sister-in-law Ernestine Adkins of Huntington, W.Va.; and nephews Howard Adkins, Duane Adkins and Vernon Adkins. Marvin grew up in Booton, W.Va., where he turned down a baseball scholarship at Marshall University to work in the family business, Wetzel Adkins Grocery, until 1972 when the Beech Fork Lake project acquired the land. He drove bus for the Wayne County School system and then went in business for himself: trucking, real estate and farming. He was a member of the Wayne Church of Christ and Deacon for many years. He was an avid outdoorsmen, a Cincinnati Reds/Bengals fan and a proud supporter of the Wayne Pioneers. He was a wonderful husband, father and friend. He will be greatly missed. While the family welcomes flowers they ask that donations be made to Hospice of Huntington and The Alzheimer's Association.  Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home with Dr. Ron Martino and Ministers Ronnie Ross and Mike Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, overlooking his farm. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
