Obituary

SADIE WEBB RICE, 92, of Wayne, W.Va., passed away Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, West Virginia.  Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, September 8, 2017 at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home with Pastor Fred Ferguson officiating.  Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Wayne, West Virginia.  Sadie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She was the daughter of the late Jay and Martha Jane Robertson Webb.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Clyde Rice; son-in-law, Dale Simpkins; grandson Carl David Simpkins; two brothers, Cullie and Boyd Webb; and two sisters, Lillian Marcum and Margie Hundley.

Surviving her are two daughters, Irene Ferrell and Dorothy Simpkins; a very special son-in-law, Johnny Ferrell; four grandsons who were so precious to her, Tracy (Shannon) Simpkins, Randy (Meg) Simpkins, Clyde E. (Nita) Ferrell, and Casey (Selena) Ferrell; 10 great grandchildren, Kelva, Clyde R., Makayla, Emily, Haley, Austin, Hannah, Abby, Jacob, and Emma; three great-great grandchildren, Riley, Riceton, and Leon; and several nieces and nephews.  The family would like to thank Hospice of Huntington, Dr. Daniel Whitmore, and all of Momma's girls at Valley Health, Wayne for their love, kindness, and wonderful care of our sweet "Miss Sadie".  Friends may call one hour prior to the funeral on Friday.
