WILLIAM THOMAS QUEEN, 92, widower of Minnie Baisden Queen, resident of Heritage Nursing Home, formerly of Dunlow, WV went home be with the Lord December 26, 2020. He was born April 25, 1928, the son of the late William "Will" Queen and Katherine "Katie" Maynard Queen. Also preceding him in death was a son, Garson Queen; five brothers, Patty, Norman, Wetzel, Earsel, and Delbert; four sisters, Ernestine, Norma, Ida and Ada; and one son-in-law, Richard Evans.
Thomas worked as a coal miner 25 years and prior at the age of fourteen he was a laborer in the construction trades. He proudly worked on many different buildings in the Huntington, WV area. He was a member of both the UMWA and Laborers Union. He is a member of Fairmont Baptist Church, prior to 2018 he was a member of Micco Jesus Only Church. In his lifetime, he enjoyed horse trading, gardening and his pets; he leaves behind his beloved Sally Dog .
Survivors include his five daughters, Cathy Evans, of Ceredo, WV, Mareline (Jack) Fitch of Trenton, Ml, Betty (Ronnie) Preston of Wayne, WV, Veva (Patrick) Lambert of Culloden, WV, and Pamela (Tom) Maynard of Dunlow. Thomas was the proud grandfather of nine grandchildren; Doug (Sue) Evans, Michelle (Ted) Maxfield, Anita Queen-Evans, Thomas (Claudia) Fitch, Rebecca (Steven) Cyrus, Marlayna Maynard (Henry Busby), Lori (Aaron) Staley, Jonathon (Elizabeth) Lambert, and Abigail (Eric) Wolfe. He was blessed with eight great-grandchildren; Grant Maxfield, Amanda Maxfield, Eli Staley, Reese Cyrus, Hayden Cyrus, Mason Cyrus, Dresdin Lambert and Max Lambert.
Also surviving are four sisters; Della Hughes of Barboursville, WV, Mary Ann Crum of Dunlow, Leva Adkins of Trenton, Ml, and Pearl Dye of Fort Mills, SC; a niece Genierae Vinyard and nephew Thomas Antal whom he helped raise; as well as many other nieces and nephews whom he dearly loved.
Due to COVID-19 pandemic, the governor and CDC require social distancing and facial coverings. Private family graveside services will be held Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Queen's Ridge Cemetery. Procession will leave Johnson Tiller Funeral Home at II am. Donations are suggested to Ronald McDonald House, 1500 17th Street, Huntington, WV 25701, or to the charity of your choosing.
