ALPHA PERRY, 81, of Wayne, W.Va., passed away Monday, September 30, 2024, at St. Mary’s Medical Center. He was born May 20, 1943, in Stiltner, W.Va., a son of the late Garfield and Myrtle Billups Perry. Also preceding him in death were brothers, Delbert Napier, Glen Perry, Barnard Perry, Eugene Napier, Kenny Perry; and sisters, Ethel Collins and Garnett Maynard. Alpha retired from Ballard Farm Sausage Company with 48 years of service.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Deloris Prater Perry; one daughter, Shirley (Roger) Ferguson; one son, Steve (Mindy) Perry of Wayne; 12 grandchildren, Steven “Bub” (Anna) Perry, Nicholas “Nickle” (Kiara) Perry, Tyler (Hannah) Perry, Tasha (Jayden) Perry, Sophia Perry, Lindsey (Ethan) James, Cassidy James, Elizabeth (Hunter) Blankenship, Emily (Nathan) Marshall, Whitney (Mark) Doss, Racheal (T.J.) Perry, and Bella Ferguson; and eight great grandchildren, Preslee Perry, Tinley, Adlee, Charlee Perry, Meschiya Johnson, Aiden, Bradshaw, Levi Marshall, Mallory Doss, and Avery Perry.
Also surviving are sisters, Rosa Watts of Proctorville, Oh., and Bonnie (Ronnie) Plybon of Huntington, W.Va.; one brother William “Bill” Perry of Wayne; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at noon on Friday, October 4, 2024, at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home with Elder Roger Maynard officiating. Burial will follow in the Wallace & Perry Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Friday.
