ANDREW JACKSON MEDDINGS, 60, of Kenova, WV, entered into rest on Sunday afternoon, February 16, 2025, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, WV. Andrew was born on September 16, 1964, to the late Delmer “Pete” Meddings and Anna Jo Gilliam Meddings.
Andrew married Teresa Marcum Meddings, the love of his life, on August 4, 2011. They reconnected through social media after knowing each other in high school, and their relationship blossomed from a simple joke. Andrew seamlessly became a part of Teresa’s family, celebrating life’s milestones with a unique and profound love. He dedicated his life to the Lord through baptism on August 4, 2024, securing his promise of eternal life in Heaven.
Left to cherish his love and memory are his wife, Teresa Meddings of Kenova; children: Alicia and Jeremey Young of Oxford, NC, Timmy and Brooke Parsley of Callahan, FL, Chasity Taylor of Jacksonville, FL, Christi and Evan James of Callahan, FL, and Chase and Kristin Taylor of Kenova; and special aunts and uncles, Judy and Bob Riggs, Joan and Arvil “Babe” Maynard, Justine Trogdon, and Alvie and Donna Gilliam. Andrew was the beloved POPPY to 11 grandchildren: Ryan, Faith, Samantha, and Jeremey Wade “J.W.” Young, Carson, Keegan, Emerson, Talon, and Holland James, Clayton and Nixon Parsley. He is also survived by his brothers, Bobby Meddings and Alvie Pete Meddings, and sister Angie Cripe, all of Dunlow, WV; nieces and nephews include Terri Stamper, Stephen and Melanie Cripe, Kayley Cripe, and Alvie Meddings, Jr.; great-nephew Andrew Meddings and great-nieces Vara Cripe and MacKenzie Marcum. Additionally, he is survived by his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Tom and Sherie Marcum, brother-in-law Tony Marcum, and mother-in-law Jewell Marcum.
Andrew was a remarkable man who always put others first. To know him was to love him, and being loved by him was a privilege that truly changed lives. As many would say, “HE JUST MADE LIFE BETTER.”
Funeral services will be conducted at noon on Friday, February 21, 2025, at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home with Tom Marcum officiating. Burial will follow in the Meddings Family Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday.
