ANTHIA SMITH, 83, of East Lynn, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 8, 2024, surrounded by her family and loved ones at her bedside. She was born January 25, 1941, in Wayne County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Leo and Rita Adkins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Homer Smith Jr.; and a baby sister Maxine. Anthia was a loving mom, adoring wife, wonderful grandmother, and homemaker. She had a great love for her family and friends. Anthia was a sister in Christ who served the Lord and was a member of the Wolf Pen Church of Christ. Everyone who knew her will never forget how kind and precious she was.
Survivors include one daughter, Teresa (Jimmy) Albright of East Lynn; four sons, Jerry (Alta) Smith of East Lynn, Greg (Bambi) Smith of Salt Rock, W.Va., Jeff (Sabrina) Smith of East Lynn, and Brett (Michele) Smith of Wayne, W.Va.; 13 grandchildren, Jerry, Homer, Kyle, Megan, Morgen, Halie, Gregory, Madilyn, Rianna, Nicholas, Katelyn, Joshua, and Ashlee; and 18 great grandchildren.
Also surviving is one sister, Stella (Tom) Francis of Lavalette, W.Va.; four brothers, Rard (Melva) Adkins of East Lynn, Sherman (Cheryl) Adkins of Barboursville, W.Va., Delmer (Sharon) Adkins of Proctorville, Oh., and Emual (Joyce) Adkins of East Lynn; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends too numerous to mention.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 11, 2024, at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home with Elders Delmar and Emual Adkins officiating. Burial will follow at the Scott Adkins Cemetery in East Lynn. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m.
