AQUILA ADKINS, 90, of Wayne, W.Va., passed away Monday, February 10, 2025, at St. Mary’s Medical Center. She was born May 18, 1934, in Harts, W.Va., a daughter of the late Ivory and Laura Maynard Williamson. Her husband of 63 years, Jason Adkins also preceded her in death along with an infant daughter Kathy Rose; five brothers, Jason Williamson, Wiley Williamson, Sanford Williamson, Ivory Williamson, and Orval Williamson; and four sisters, Avey Kirk, Wavey Wiley, Theba “Drue” Elder, and Betty Joe Maynard. Aquila retired with 30 years of service from Corbin Manufacturing and was a member of Salem United Baptist Church.
She is survived by her son and his wife Jason and Dorothy Adkins; grandchildren Glenn (Jayna) Adkins and Jennifer (Ed) Howell; two great-grandchildren, Benjamin Adkins and Chloe Beaver; three brothers, John Williamson, Robert Williamson, and Author Williamson; one sister, Georgia (Greg) Wilson; as well as nephews, nieces, and friends too numerous to mention.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, February 14, 2025, at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home with Pastor Tony Clay and Rev. Ed Howell officiating. Burial will follow at the Greasy Ridge Cemetery, Dunlow, W.Va. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Friday.
