BETTY JO DYER, 92, of Lavalette, W.Va., passed away Friday, August 2, 2024, at St. Mary’s Medical Center. She was born July 8, 1932, in Lavalette, a daughter of the late Henry and Sally Mays. Her husband Herbert Dyer also preceded her in death along with five brothers, Irvin Mays, Jack Mays, David Mays, James Maynard and Jimmy Mays; and two sisters, Wilda May Holbrook and Evelyn Bradshaw. Betty was a member of May Chapel.
She is survived by two sons, Ricky Dyer of Lavalette, and Leslie Dyer and his wife Mary of Huntington; three grandchildren, Nicole Dyer (Jason Eubank) of Huntington, Jeremy Dyer (Whitley Coffman) of Staunton, Va., and Brandon (Cortney) Dyer of Greenville, Va.; nine great grandchildren, Hayden Gue, Maria Talbert, Hunter Dyer, Forrest Talbert, Elaina Dyer, Jasper Dyer, Chesney Dyer, Luke Dyer, and Lane Dyer.
Also surviving are two sisters, Donna (Avra) Perry of Lavalette, and Judy Maynard of Prichard, W.Va.; special caregivers Christy Stevens, Vickie Vera, and Edna Maynard; special nephew Eddie Bradshaw; as well as a host of dear nieces and nephews too numerous to mention.
Graveside services will be conducted at noon on Sunday, August 4, 2024, at the Mays Cemetery with Eddie Bradshaw and Pastor Roger Smith officiating. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. at the cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Johnson Tiller Funeral Home. home.
