BUSTER THURMAN MAYNARD, 91, of Dunlow, W.Va., went home to be with the Lord at his residence on Friday, December 28, 2018. He was born August 5, 1927 in Wayne County, West Virginia, a son of the late Lark and Rinda Meade Maynard. Buster graduated Wayne High School and attended Marshall University. He taught school for two years and ran a successful business for 47 years. A 32nd Degree Mason, he was a 50 year plus member of Jewel Lodge #140 A.F. & A.M., Past Worthy Patron of the Crum Chapter 160, Order of Eastern Star, and a Kentucky Colonel since 2003.
Survivors include his loving wife of 69 years, Barbara Jean Adkins Maynard; two sons, Buster Thomas Maynard and wife Pamela and Anthony Wayne Maynard and wife Karen of Dunlow; two daughters, Priscilla Jean Maynard of Dunlow, and Rosemary Rutherford and her husband Mike of Wayne, W.Va.; six grandchildren, Marlayna Maynard and husband Henry Busby, Chelsea Rutherford, Abigail Maynard, Courtney Copley and her husband Matt Copley, Tyler Rutherford, and Taylor Maynard and his wife Taylor Michelle Maynard; and one great grandson, Carson Copley.
Also surviving is one brother, Donald Maynard of East Lynn, W.Va.; one sister, Jewel Gay Maynard of Genoa, W.Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home with Brothers Richard Damron and James Parsley, Charles Lucas, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Jarrett Maynard Cemetery. Visitation will be held after 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
