DAVID RAY MILLS, 67, of East Lynn, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 24, 2026. He was born October 30, 1958, in West Hamlin, W.Va., a son of the late Milton and Nevada Mills. Also preceding him in death was his nephew, Jonathon Taylor and great-nephew, Logan Mills.
David was a light in the lives of those around him. Despite facing lifelong physical challenges, he met each day with strength and determination that defined who he was. His strong-will carried him through decades of obstacles, allowing him to remain surrounded by the family he loved so deeply. That same determination was matched by a joyful spirit- he was happy, quick to joke, and never seemed to meet a stranger.
David had a playful side that brought laughter to all. He loved to show off his muscles with a grin, chase the kids through the house just to hear them laugh, and was always up for a lively round of checkers or Skip-Bo- where he was known to bend the rules just enough to keep things interesting. He also had a mischievous streak when it came to money. If you held out a dollar bill, you better be quick, or he’d playfully snatch it with a laugh and tuck it into his billfold. By finding joy in little things, like pushing his toy cars and trucks up and down the wall in the backyard or packing around his cherished Pringles can full of marbles, he constantly reminded everyone around him that happiness could be found in the simplest moments.
Left to cherish his memory are six siblings, Thomas (Rhonda) Mills of East Lynn, Charolette (Greg) Carter of Branchland, W.Va., Debra (Daniel) Paul of Huntington, W.Va., Nan (Jamie) Blankenship of Prichard, W.Va., Robin (Dwight) Blankenship of Lavalette, W.Va.; Milton Lee (Vanessa) Mills of Huntington; a special aunt Linda “Bo Bo” Davis of East Lynn; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces/nephews; family and friends too numerous to mention.
The family would like to thank the staff of St. Mary’s, WCCSO, and Hospice, as well as those who visited, brought food, offered prayers, and provided comfort and support during this time.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Monday, April 27, 2026, at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home with Pastor Jason McComas officiating. Burial will follow in the Mills Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m.
