Dewey Rice

DEWEY RICE, 77, of Wayne, W.Va., passed away Sunday, February 13, 2022, at home.  He was born September 30, 1944, in East Lynn, W.Va., a son of the late John and Mary Rice.  Also preceding him in death were two brothers, Dennis Rice and Faburn Rice; two sisters, Marie Cox and Rita Simmons; two sons, Dewey Keith Tomblin and William Tomblin; one daughter, Lisa Rector; and one grandson, Dalton Rice.

            He is survived by his loving wife Alice Rice; three daughters, Debbie (Eddie) Aliff, Angel Neace, and Annie Porter all of Wayne; three sons, Terry (Mary) Tomblin of Atlanta, Ga., Dana Rice, also of Atlanta, and John (Deb) Rice of Wayne; 21 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren.

            Also surviving are two brothers, Arbie (Ida) Rice of Wayne, and Richard (Betty) Rice of Huntington, W.Va.; two sisters, Lois (Gary) Queen of East Lynn, W.Va., and Arbutus Moore of Wayne; dear sister-in-law Frances Webb of Huntington; special family Dwayne and Peggy Combs, Tom Smith, Suzie Hale, and Reginia Tomblin, all of Wayne; special friend April Joye; his “Little Buddy” Adam Joye; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends too numerous to mention.

            Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 19, 2022, at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in Community Memorial Gardens with Mel Davis, Billy Webb, Curtis Sartin, Ira Joye, Benji Scott, Eddie Aliff Jr., and Aaron Rice serving as pallbearers, and  Adam Joye and Terry Tomblin as honorary pallbearers.  Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday.
