Donald Mega Obituary

DONALD R. MEGA, 79, passed peacefully from this life to the next on Thursday, October 28, 2021, at his home in Barboursville, W.Va. Don was not a man of fanfare and simply wanted to say: “My life is my message.”

He was preceded in death by his father, John Joseph Mega, and his mother, Elizabeth Hunt Mega.

He is survived by his wife, M. Lynn Mega, of Barboursville; one brother, John (Linda) Mega, of Lavalette, W.Va.; one sister, Betty (Ernie) Galinis, of Delray Beach, Fla.; two sons, Dr. John “Fox” Mega (April Young), of Daytona Beach, Fla., and Matthew D. (Kellie) Mega, of Richmond Va.; one daughter, Christine B. Mega Anton (Larry Conrad), of Milton, W.Va.; two granddaughters: Devan Mega, of Glen Allen, Va., and Sophia Anton, of Huntington, W.Va.; three grandsons, Luke Mega, of Richmond, Va., Simon Anton, of Raleigh, N.C., and Owen Mega, of Glen Allen, Va.; many nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

Don generously donated his body to the Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine for the advancement of science and education.  He was an avid runner and triathlete for many years. Next weekend the family will gather at Marshall University to honor his memory by participating in the 5K run/walk that Don loved to run. He would have loved that and will be with us in spirit. Some of his friends will attend to celebrate his life.

Another of his passions was his volunteer work for 13 years at Little Victories Animal Rescue in Ona. Don always cherished and cared for God’s creatures. For those who want to honor him in some way, please send donations to Little Victories Animal Rescue, P.O. Box 247, Barboursville, WV 25504 or at littlevictories.org, or drop off donations of food or supplies as listed on their website.
