DUANE ROGER HOPKINS, 80, of Huntington, W.Va., passed away Thursday October 2, 2025, at his residence. He was born November 14, 1944, in Buffalo, N.Y., to the late Charles and Margaret Hopkins. Also preceding him in death were two brothers, Dennis Hopkins and Dale Hopkins, and a sister Debbie Hopkins Spencer.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Joan Marie Hopkins; three daughters, Christina (Charlie) Rickman of Lakeland, Fla., Sarah (R.K.) Gissel of Huntington, and Elizabeth (Jody) Watts of Wayne, W.Va.; six grandchildren, Shane Crislip, David Crislip, Lilly Gissel, Korey Watts, Kaden Watts, and Kloey Watts; six great grandchildren; one sister Diane Yucum; one brother David Hopkins; and a host of family and friends.
Duane was a veteran of the Vietnam War where he proudly served our country from the Army’s 1st Infantry Division. He was retiree of Bell Atlantic Communications where he worked for 30 years and was known by his co-workers as “Hoppy”.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, October 6, 2025, at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Mt. Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will begin at noon on Monday.
