ETHEL IRENE WEBB, 92, of Wayne, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 20, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 5, 1932, in Wayne, a daughter of the late Asa and Mattie Canaday. Her husband of 57 years, Bobby Webb also preceded her in death along with her son Randall Webb and two infant sons; two brothers, Leo Canaday and Elmer Canaday; and two sisters, Mildred McGlaughlin and Marie Watts Rowe.
She graduated from Marshall College and was a retired teacher serving mostly at East Lynn Elementary, for 36 years. Ethel was a faithful member of Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church and cherished her church family. She was a woman of unwavering faith and will forever remind us that “God’s promises are true”.
Survivors include her daughter Debra Cade and her husband Jeff of Wayne; daughter-in-law Teresa Webb of Kenova, W.Va.; grandchildren, Kala (Greg) Michels of Wayne, Traci (Josh) Phillips of Kenova; Amy (Zach) Akers of Kenova, Brandi Smith and family of Scott Depot, W.Va., and Josh Cade of Wayne; great grandchildren, Anna, Riley, Halle, Kolter, Randen, Lyla, Beckham, and Kyp.; numerous nieces, nephews, family, neighbors, and friends. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hospice of Huntington for their care and support.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home with Pastor Roger Perry and Brother Greg Michels officiating. Burial will follow in the Webb Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m.
