Our precious mother and grandmother, FRANCES JACKSON, 82, of South Point, Ohio took the hand of her Savior and left this world for a better home on Thursday, July 19, 2023. Mom was born February 23, 1941, in Miami, Florida, the daughter of the late David Lafayette Scott and Verlan Garner Stephens. Also preceding her in death was son Jimmy Gordon Jackson who died at ten months old; a daughter Lori Dale Jackson White of South Point; son Timothy Shawn Jackson of Huntington, W.Va.; great grandson Joshua Roy Blair Jr.; two great great granddaughters, Skylar Jo Baker and Izzabella Ruth Brown both of Huntington; and great-great grandson Devlin Dae Norvell.
Mom worked at Corbins Ltd for many years and served as Union president as well as serving on Huntington's City Council for several years and served on various boards for the city of Huntington. While we were proud of our mother for these things, nothing compared to how proud we were of her for just being our precious mother. For all the years she sacrificed for us kids and did without so we could have what we needed. For the love and nurture, she gave to us. For the discipline and values, she taught us. Our mother and father weren't rich, but they taught us well.
Our mother leaves behind her ex-husband, our father, Lucian Gordan Jackson of South Point with whom she shared five children: one daughter Diane (Joe) Sexton of South Point; and sons, Scott Jackson and Darrell Jackson also of South Point, and Ricky (Denise) Jackson of Sandusky, Ohio; 15 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and anxiously awaiting the arrival of great grandbaby "Tiny Tim" due in October and another great great grandbaby due in March 24. Aa well as a special friend Teresa Ball of South Point.
The last few days of mom's life, she spent with her family talking about the things that were important to her and about her Lord. While in the ICU, she expressed her great desire to be baptized, so her son-in-law baptized her while she was in her bed and the joy that came across her face was priceless. There are no words to express the sadness that we will feel at losing our dear little mother, but the joy in knowing that she no longer will be struggling to breathe and will be with the Lord will ease our pain. This is just a temporary separation for those of us who know the Lord.
Visitation will be held Saturday, July 22, 2023, from 12pm-2pm. Funeral service at 2pm with Rev. Rod Justice officiating. Burial will be following at the Muncy Family Cemetery located on White Oak Fork Road off of Right Fork of Wilson Creek, Wayne, W.Va.
Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Until we meet again on Heavens bright shore. We love you mommy.
