FREDA MAE STEPHENS, 84, of Wayne, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 14, 2024, following a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was born October 15, 1939, in Wayne, a daughter of the late Charles and Cora Adkins Bradshaw. Her husband Howard Stephens also preceded her in death along with one grandson, James Timothy Blankenship. Freda retired from Huntington Manufacturing and attended Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church at Wayne.
Survivors include her daughter Valerie (Dwayne) Blankenship of Wayne; grandson Jeremy (Amber) Blankenship of Huntington; two sisters, Beulah Stephens and Rethil Marshall; one brother Robert Bradshaw, all of Wayne; special friends and caregivers, whom she dearly loved, Nola Williamson, Retha Johnson, and Courtney White; as well as family and friends too numerous to mention.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, October 18, 2024, at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Community Memorial Gardens. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Friday. The family suggests donation to Hospice of Huntington in Freda's memory. www.hospiceofhuntington.org.
