GARY ROWE, 72, of Huntington, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 3, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born June 8, 1951, in East Lynn, W.Va., a son of the late Ray and Norma Rowe. Also preceding him in death were sisters, Opal Cyrus, Doris Flowers, Ruby Jones, and Lorene Hogsette; and two brothers, Leo Rowe and Junior Rowe. Gary was retired from the Wayne County Board of Education where he was a bus driver for 36 years and attended New Vision Baptist Church. Gary was a proud Wayne Pioneer football fan, and loved playing music and singing for the Lord.
He leaves behind his wife Marilyn Rowe; two sons, Richard Blackshire of Wheelersburg, Oh., and Jeremy Blackshire of Coal Grove, Oh.; one brother, Thurman (Diana) Rowe; special niece, Jennifer “Little Normy” Bloss; and special great nephew Braden “Mr. Pioneer” Bloss, all of Lavalette; as well as a host of family and friends too numerous to mention. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to his caregivers and Hospice of Huntington.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home with Pastors Jeremy Eastwood and Garrett Hale officiating. Burial will follow in the Edgar Maynard Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Hospice of Huntington.
