GENE DULANEY BETLER, JR., 64, of Fort Gay, W.Va., passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at Cabell Huntington Hospital. He was born September 18, 1957, in Elkins. W.Va., a son of the late Pauline and Gene Betler Sr. His brother Kenneth Nazelrod also preceded him in death along with two sisters, Diane Swecker and Sandra Swecker. Gene served his country honorably in the US Air Force and Air Force Reserve. He retired from the Federal Aviation Administration as an air traffic controller with 28 years of service and was co-owner and operator of Betler’s Reporting and Legal Video Service where he worked as a videographer.
Survivors include his loving wife of 25 years, Jo Ann Betler; two daughters, Melissa (Steven) Rowan of Morgantown, W.Va., and Marcia (Toby) Myers of Elkins, W.Va.; and four grandchildren, Talia Rowan, Emily Rowan, Jeremiah Myers, and Christa Myers.
Also surviving are three brothers, David (Donna) Nazelrod of Elkins, Kevin (Diane) Betler of Helvetia, W.Va., and Scott (Lori) Betler of Elkins; one sister, Sheila (Johnny) Eppard of Front Royal, Va.; and a host of family and friends too numerous to mention.
Visitation will be held from 6- 8 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2022, at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home, Wayne, W.Va. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 10, 2022, at the Zion Presbyterian Church, Helvetia, W.Va. Burial will follow in the Pickens Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Sunday at the church.
