HAROLD LEE MARCUM, also known as “Honey” 77, of Lavalette, W.Va., passed from this life on Sunday, February 11, 2024, surrounded by his loving family at home. He was born August 6, 1946, in Genoa, W.Va., a son of the late Lillian Webb Marcum and Argus Marcum. Also preceding him in death were two sisters, Julia (Aley) Copley, Carol Jean (Ed) Reider; brother-in-law Dallas Adkins; grandson Stuart Bradley Wellman; and special brother-in-law Richard Douglas Blake. Harold proudly worked for 26 years at the Huntington Fire Department, 11 ½ years at Housing Development Corporation, and a member of Garrett’s Creek Church of Christ. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, but above all else, he dearly loved his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Violet Craddock Marcum; one son, Bobby Lee Marcum; one daughter, Angela (Gary) Wellman; four grandchildren, Jesse Wellman, Teddy (Rosy) Marcum, Hannah Marcum (Chris Reed), and Kailee Wellman; and two great grandchildren, Xavier Marcum and Lilian Marcum. Also surviving are two sisters, Deloris (Ross) Barger and Sadie Adkins; special sister-in-law, Nancy Blake; several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
The family would like to thank Dr. Jamil of the Edwards Comprehensive Cancer Center and Hospice of Huntington, especially Sandy and Heather, for their care and support.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, February 15, 2024, at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home with Minister Wyn Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will begin at noon on Thursday.
