HAZEL ALINE STROUD, 78, of Chesapeake, Va., formerly of Grayson, Ky., passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at home. She was born July 3, 1945, in Dunlow, W.Va., a daughter of the late Charles and Goldie Marcum. Her husband, Orville Stroud also preceded her in death along with four brothers Charles Marcum, Jr., Allen Jay Marcum, Ralph Marcum, Roy Marcum; two sisters, Betty Bell, and Fredis Frye. Member of Iron Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Grayson, Ky., and a homemaker.
She leaves behind three daughters, Karen Jones and husband Robert of Garrison, Ky., Sandra Stroud-Zorn and husband Martin of Bethel, Minn., and Renee Dorf and husband Mike of Chesapeake, Va.; five grandchildren, Kyle Ross (Kara) Coghill of Norfolk, Va., Christopher Ryan Orville (Airiel) Coghill, of Petersburg, Va., Robby (Caitlin) Jones and Jessica Jones of Garrison, and Kayla Brookie Zorn of Bethel; great grandchildren: Colson Ryan Orville Coghill, and Robert Orville Jones III; sisters: Lucille McCall of Chesapeake, Va.; and numerous nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends.
Celebration of life will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home, Wayne, West Virginia. Burial will follow at noon in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North East, Greenup County, Kentucky. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m.
