Howard Adrian Meadows II, 74, of Huntington, WV, passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, from complications of pneumonia. The eldest son of the late Howard A. Meadows, Sr. and Dorotha Johnson Meadows, he was born on February 8, 1945, in Huntington. He grew up in Huntington and graduated in 1963, from Huntington High School. Following an interest in art and design, Howard pursued a career in interior design and merchandising. He was employed by several businesses in Huntington before following his dreams to New York. In 1970, he graduated from the New York School of Design. Employed by several private firms and later larger ones, his talents were on display at Bergdorf-Goodman’s, Bloomingdale’s, and Macy’s. When trade was opened with China under President Nixon’s term, Howard accompanied a group on a historic buying trip to that country and its provinces. This was a highlight of his career, which also brought employment opportunities in New Hampshire, Miami and Los Angeles, where he again worked for private and public firms. Upon retiring, Howard returned to Huntington, where he continued working with antiques and living a much quieter life. Survivors include his brother, Roger Meadows and his wife, Celia; nephew, Andy (Katia) and son, Wyatt ; nieces, Allison Scott (Jimmy) all of Huntington, and Kim Meadows and son, Dre’ Meadows of Shreveport, LA; an uncle and several cousins. He was also predeceased by his brother, Larry Allen Meadows, in 1983. At Howard’s request, he was cremated with no public services. However, he would like his friends to raise a toast in his memory at their next get-together. If desired, donations may be made in his memory to Little Victories Animal Rescue in Ona, WV or the Huntington-Cabell-Wayne Animal Shelter.
