JAMES LARRY STEPHENS, 68, of Wayne, W.Va., passed away at home surrounded by his family on Saturday, March 28, 2020. He was born April 19, 1951 at Wayne, a son of the late Kenneth and Laura Mae Stephens. His sister Donna Stephens Napier also preceded him in death. James was a US Army veteran, serving during the Vietnam era and attended Canada Chapel.
He leaves behind his childhood sweetheart and loving wife of 48 years, Sandra Pauley Stephens; two children, Elysaa (Luther) Carico and Jeremiah (Tonya) Stephens; four beloved grandchildren, Ashley (Ryan) Mills, Allie (Brian) Watts, Gavin Carico, and Rylee “Princess” Carico, all of Wayne; and five great grandchildren, Paislee Nicole “Princess”, Ryder James, Greyson Scott, Macy Watts, and Matthew Watts.
Also surviving are three brothers, Bernie Stephens of South Point, Oh., Bobby Stephens of Wayne, and Kenny Stephens of Circleville, Oh.; three sisters, Brenda (Dallas) Merritt, Betty (Joe) Cox, and Anna (Rick) Holland, all of Wayne; several nieces, nephews, and many friends. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Tim Mills for his care and friendship. James was loved by all who knew him and will be sorely missed.
Graveside services will be held at 1:30 pm Wednesday, April 1, 2020 at the Stephens Cemetery. Johnson Tiller Funeral Home is honored to serve the Stephens family.
