JAMES KENT “JIM” DAY, 69, of Lavalette, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at St. Mary’s Medical Center. He was born December 2, 1956, in Huntington, W.Va., a son of the late James and Hope Day. Jim retired with over 45 years of service from 7-D Gas and was a lifelong member of Florence Memorial Church.
Survivors include his loving wife of 47 years, Cynthia Day; two children, James H. (Stephanie) Day of Wayne, W.Va., and Crystal (Michael) Kendrick of Huntington; and three grandchildren, Penelope Day, and Amelia Day of Wayne, and Tristan Kendrick of Huntington.
Also surviving are two sisters, Marsha Aldridge of Wayne, and Kathy (Bill) Thornton of Java, Va.; and a host of special friends and family too numerous to mention.
Funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home with Pastor Dave Ward officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m.
