JOE C. PERRY, 85, of Wayne, W.Va., passed into the loving arms of Jesus at the home of his son and daughter-in-law on Wednesday, February 28, 2024. He was born January 6, 1939, and grew up at Perry Ridge, W.Va., a son of the late Nathan and Sarah Aldridge Perry. His beloved wife Bessie Perry also preceded him in death along with 10 siblings, William Harrison Perry, Anna Mae Perry, twins Thomas and Alice Perry, Henry Perry, Allen Perry, Emma Hundley, Jannivee Eslick Copley, Casa Perry, and Hattie Perry.
Joe was a jack-of-all-trades and could fix anything. He was a talented guitarist, and you would often find him playing his bluegrass music.
Survivors include one son, Michael Joe (Cassie) Perry of Wayne; four grandchildren: Eli, Emi, Nathan, and Callie, whom he adored; five siblings, Loraine “Lou” Hampton of Kitts Hill, Oh., Jesse (Carolyn) Perry, Carl (Charmy) Perry, both of Cleveland, Oh., Frank Perry of Lavalette, W.Va., and Fran Burnette of Dunlow, W.Va.; brother-in-law Larry (Jan) Williamson of Guntersville, Ala.; sister-in-law Betty (Leo) Meddings of Ann Arbor, Mich., and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends too numerous to mention. A special thank you is extended to Joe's niece, Dr. Jennifer Meddings for her ongoing encouragement and support.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, March 4, 2024, at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home with Pastor Emmanuel Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow in the William Perry Cemetery, Perry Ridge, Dunlow, W.Va., Visitation will be held from 6- 8 Sunday at the funeral home.
