JOHN SELWYN STARKEY, 62, of Genoa, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at home surrounded by loved ones. He was preceded in death by his father Oscar Young and two brothers, Jeffrey Stephens and Miles Young. John was a self-employed mobile home mover and a member of Twelve Pole Valley Baptist Church, Genoa where he loved to teach Sunday School when he was able.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Starkey; his children Haley Starkey of Genoa, Sara Starkey of Huntington, Carrie Starkey of Kenova, W.Va., Tina Starkey of South Point, Oh., Brittany Starkey of Colorado Springs, Col., Zachary Rieder of Genoa, and Brandon Rieder (Jaime Wallace) of Ashville, Ala.; and eight grandchildren, Elijah, Jennings, Jason, Lucy, Cayden, Rylan, Kylie, and Joanna.
Also surviving is his mother, Carrie Young; three sisters, Mary Young, Shadow Lighthorse, and Beth Young; one brother Oscar Young; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends too numerous to mention.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to St. Mary’s Home Health and Hospice of Huntington for their care and support.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, April 23, 2021 at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home with Brother Doug Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in the Young Cemetery, Genoa.
