LOWELL ELBERT SMITH, 88, of Lavalette, W.Va., passed away Sunday, December 11, 2022 at home. He was born March 12, 1934 in Kenova, W.Va., a son of the late Jesse and Myrtie Smith. Also preceding him in death were four brothers, Hubert, Hurl, Homer, and Hobert Smith.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 51 years, Sallie Napier Smith; two daughters, Yvonne (Josh) Fitzsimmons of Charlotte, N.C., and Pam (Michael) Stephens of Lavalette; four grandchildren, Caleb (Miranda) Fitzsimmons of Wilmington, N.C., Gracie Stephens of Willowood, Oh., Chloe Stephens, and Mason Stephens, both of Lavalette; and one great grandson, Bentlee Redman of Wilmington.
Also surviving is one sister, Calla Smith of Wayne, W.Va.; two brothers, Herbert Smith of Va., and Dores Smith of Lavalette; many dear nieces, and nephews, and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at noon on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home with Elders Roger Maynard, Tommy Damron, and Pastor Tony Clay officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m.
