Ollie "Eva" Smith

OLLIE “EVA” SMITH, 87, of Ona, W.Va., formerly of Somerset, Ky., passed away Sunday, December 8, 2019 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House.  She was born October 31, 1932 at Wilsondale, W.Va., a daughter of the late Allen and Brookie Parsley Stroud.  Her husband of 64 years, Robert Smith, also preceded her in death, along with one son, Darrell Keith Smith; five sisters, Genevieve Wallace, Lora King, Olive Sutherland, Edna Mae Mills, and Elizabeth Marcum; and three brothers, Wayne Stroud, Orville Stroud, and infant John B. Stroud. Eva was a homemaker and a member of the Bethel Baptist Church, Somerset. 

            Survivors include her daughter, Sherry Smith of Culloden, W.Va.; three sons, Robert (Gloria) Smith of Albuquerque, N.M., Glenn (Carrie) Smith of Clarkston, Mich., and James (LaRae) Smith of Pickerington, Oh.; four grandchildren, Thomas (Lauren) Smith of Clarkston, Joseph (Katie) Smith of Eaton Rapids, Mich., Shannon Pack (Nick Messer) of Louisville, Ky., and Shelby (Gary) Crossen of Lavalette, W.Va.; great grandsons, Trenton Smith, Kayson Crossen; and one on the way.

            Also surviving is one sister, Marie (Liss) Dillon of Cookeville, Tenn.; one brother James (Betty) Stroud of Chillicothe, Oh.; and nieces, nephews, family and friends too numerous to mention.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, December 13, 2019 at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in the McClellan Crum Cemetery, Dunlow, W.Va.  Visitation will begin at 11:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.  Donations are suggested to the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House 3100 Staunton Road, Huntington, WV 25702.
