ROGER FRANKLIN LYCANS, 67, of Huntington, W.Va., passed away Sunday, August 3, 2025, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 1, 1958, in Huntington, a son of the late James and Agnes Lycans. Roger enjoyed spending time with his daughter and grandchildren, whom he adored. He also enjoyed the camping and fishing trips to Smoke Hole and Cranberry River as well as the annual apple butter making with his brothers and sisters. Roger was also an avid Dale Earnhardt fan and loved watching the races with his family.
Survivors include his daughter, Kristin Lycans; grandchildren Karson Sammons and Karlie Sammons; three sisters, Terri Lynn (Ron), Shelley, Jetta (Bob); five brothers, Jim (Connie), Tony, Dana (Lisa), Billy (Annette), and Matt; his former wife Barb Marcum; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff of Cabell Huntington Hospital Oncology and Hospice of Huntington for their care and support.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home with Pastor Fred Ferguson speaking and assisting in the family’s farewell to our dear Roger. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Donations to assist the family are appreciated and can be made by selecting the "Donations" tab above.
